What inspired you to focus on water treatment and water filtration services?
Water is vital to life and clean water is important to our health and the health of our loved ones. The positive customer feedback about our products and services motivates us each day. There’s a significant need for quality water treatment throughout our region and we take this challenge seriously.
As a family business, how do you split your responsibilities?
April and I are hands on owners. All three of our daughters come in when they’re not in classes to help around the office and follow up with customers. My mother, Sharon, works in the office a few days a week answering calls and working on scheduling. We also have terrific managers and technicians.
How has technology impacted on your business?
Valves are now using smart technology and we’re eliminating odors in a single tank option. Customer service is also evolving with new tools such as handheld tablets used by our technicians when working in the field. This enhances our response time in support of our customers.
How does your retail store in Venice support do-it-yourself customers?
We offer a wide range of filters, chemicals, and salt at our retail store with convenient access to our warehouse. Our retail store is not just used for sales. We have a lot of customers that come in to ask technical questions. We value these interactions and we regard our store as an education center.
What’s your current service area and what are your plans for growth?
We support customers from Punta Gorda to Parrish and Englewood to Arcadia. We recently merged with J&S Water which enhances our reach throughout Venice. We’ve been eyeing a second location in the North Port area and another opportunity for expansion north of Sarasota.
Is Florida water safe?
Federal water standards call for safe water to be delivered to your house, but healthy water isn’t monitored. There’s a difference and we provide information without using scare tactics and sales pitches. The FWQA website is the best source for unbiased information about Florida’s water quality.
Where are you and April from originally?
I came here with my grandparents in 1976 from Dallas. April moved to Venice in 1986. We love living here and watching our family and community grow.
