How did you get involved with acupuncture and natural health?
I was in the nursing field previously using natural health approaches when possible. I was impressed to see how a veterinarian used acupuncture to treat my horse when he had a life-threatening injury. I enrolled at The East West College of Natural Medicine in Sarasota shortly afterwards to become a Doctor of Oriental Medicine.
How does acupuncture work?
Acupuncture involves specific points on the body that are related to internal organs and channels. These points are located on meridians that flow through the body increasing circulation and assisting the body to balance and heal itself. The treatments typically last from 30 minutes to 1 hour. Most patients fall asleep because the experience is so relaxing. People feel energized yet relaxed after the treatment.
What are some of the conditions that can benefit from regular acupuncture treatments?
Most people come for pain, but it can also help with insomnia, fatigue, colds and flus, digestive issues, neuropathy, poor circulation, edema, stress, arthritis, kidney disease, skin conditions such as eczema, psoriasis and acne, infertility (with or without Western medical treatments), weight loss, digestive issues, facial rejuvenation, side effects of cancer treatment, addictions, and more. Our goal is to help people feel better!
What is cosmetic acupuncture?
It’s a natural method of improving the appearance of the face and neck by using tiny acupuncture needles to stimulate the production of collagen and elastin to reduce fine lines, wrinkles and large pores. It also tones the facial muscles and jawline, improves complexion and enhances the overall health and wellbeing of the entire body. It’s an effective and affordable non-invasive anti-aging technique with no side effects other than occasional light bruising and soreness.
What are some of the other treatments you provide?
Laser acupuncture (needle-free option), acupressure, cupping, Chinese herbal medicine, Homeopathy, diet counseling, vitamin and Homeopathic injections, electrical stimulation, and ear seeds. We also offer high quality whole food supplements providing better absorption into the body allowing better utilization with no side effects such as nausea from synthetic vitamins.
What would you like to share about your family?
We live on a small farm in the woods with our horse and dogs, and we love boating and fishing in Englewood and Boca Grande. We now have three sailors in the family. We continue to be active in our school and rooted with our loving church family. We are truly blessed!
