Mara, tell our readers a little bit about your company?
FirstLight Home Care is a leading home care agency that provides home care services, respite care and senior care in Englewood, Port Charlotte and the surrounding area. We support seniors, adults with disabilities, adults in recovery or rehabilitation, veterans, and busy moms.
You are a native of Englewood with a lot of experience in the health sector. When did you join FirstLight Home Care and why?
I joined the company in January of 2016. I decided to make a career change and try something a little different. I was previously a registered medical assistant for Gulf Coast Medical Group.
What does the company mean when they talk about creating a culture of care?
Our Culture of Care is our commitment to service excellence, personal growth and accountability. Our core values of caring about clients sets a standard for our training and ongoing support. Caring is the foundation of who we are as a team of professional. It’s integral to our reputation.
What are the groups of people your company helps with clinical and related support?
We are committed to take care of our veterans, new mothers, elderly clients, and disabled adults.
Does your company provide training support for new team members?
Yes, we provide in-home training for our caregivers which includes CPR training. We also provide ongoing support and training as part of our quarterly staff meetings.
How do you support veterans as a VA-approved home care company?
We provide personal care and light housekeeping that support veterans and their family members.
How does your team help busy mothers?
We all need a helping hand occasionally and it doesn’t matter if the mom is managing a large or small family. Being a new mom or the mother of young children can be particularly stressful. I know that first hand as a mother of 8 children. We provide light housekeeping, run errands, provide meal planning, grocery shopping, and more. We also have a program where a gift card can be purchased for a special mom. Our support extends to mothers recovering from an illness or surgery.
Mara, what do you enjoy about your work?
I love my job. I feel a strong sense of commitment and satisfaction in making sure our clients get excellent care. I’m proud of our scope of services and commitment to caring.
