Loving Light Yoga Reaches Milestone with Gentle Yoga on Englewood Beach – Nearly 400 adults joined Lata and Robert Coykendall on March 3 to celebrate the 10-year anniversary of Gentle Yoga being taught on Englewood Beach. Lata estimates that the total number over the years exceeds 300,000.
Chris Hess and Julie Hunt are friends that live on Manasota Key. The Wisconsin natives have been coming every Saturday for the past 9 years. “It’s a great way to start your day,” said Chris. Julie added that yoga has helped her deal with back pain.
Sandy Snyder has been coming everyday for six years. She’s originally from Mason, Ohio north of Cincinnati, and she has been practicing yoga for 40 years. “Lata and Robert are the best yoga teachers I’ve ever worked with.”
Kelly O’Connor and her daughter Kelsey and sister Lisa were impressed with the turnout. “It was the most people I’ve ever seen doing yoga at the same time,” said Kelly. The ladies are from Chazy, New York. They were joined by family friend Jane Tirrell. Jane’s northern home is in Chatham near Cape Cod.
Lata expressed gratitude to her husband Robert, their team of yoga instructors, Charlotte County, and all the guests. She said yoga fosters peace and kindness. “We are grateful to be Englewood’s outdoor yoga studio,” she added. Her comment elicited warm approval from the crowd of snowbirds and year-round residents. Congratulations Lata and Robert!
