Rod, when did you open your clinic and what’s your mission as it relates to patient care and wellness?
The clinic opened in November 2017. The mission is to provide low cost quality healthcare and to merge the healing and alignment practices of yoga with chiropractic care to help restore the body’s natural balance. Our main focus is preventative health care and we offer gentle techniques and exercises that help relieve chronic pain and discomfort.
You pursued a second career as a chiropractor after retiring from a prior career in the high tech industry. What was your motivation to enter this field?
I wanted a second career that helped people live a more satisfying life. I retired as a sales and marketing professional in the high tech industry.
How has practicing yoga for many years enhanced your life, and how does it influence your support of current patients?
Yoga is a personal physical therapy practice, created over 2,000 years ago, that helps people using the bodies innate capabilities. Chiropractic is a manual therapy practice that realigns the body so that the body can heal itself. The combination of yoga and chiropractic therapy are a natural fit. They work well together to help people restore their alignment, balance and symmetry.
Is it true that you only charge $35 for the initial fee for an adjustment? What is your approach to pricing for your service?
Affordability is the primary objective. Appointments are preferred, but walk-ins are welcome too on a space available basis. Off hour appointments are also available upon request.
What’s the Ultralign Spinal Treatment System and how does it help you help patients?
Ultralign by SIGMA Instruments is a computerized system designed by NASA for the space shuttle and retrofitted by the original designer for spinal measurement and alignment. The system measures and adjusts the spine in a gentle and non-invasive way with no discomfort. The precision of these measurements eliminates the guesswork of traditional chiropractic.
Where did you grow up and what brought you to Venice?
I grew up in New Hampshire, moved to California for 21 years and then came to Venice for the weather and the small town ambiance.
